MISSION
STATEMENT
The goal of BonesCanada is to empower state-of-the-art care for children and adults living with childhood-onset bone disorders in Canada, and around the world.
To achieve this goal, BonesCanada brings together clinicians, patients, and families for educational events sponsored by The Canadian Consortium for Children’s Bone Health (CCCBH, empowering health professionals), and The Canadian Alliance for Rare Disorders of the Skeleton (CARDS, advocating for patients and families). Together, CCCBH and CARDS educate health professionals, patients, and families in the effective management of childhood-onset bone disorders, advocate for patients and families in gaining access to optimal care, and create networks of clinicians, scientists, and families that propel the study and care of individuals with bone diseases forward.
BonesCanada is grateful for the collaboration with a number of patient advocacy groups including Soft Bones Canada, The Canadian XLH Network, The Canadian Osteogenesis Imperfecta Society, Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, and Jesse’s Journey. Additional partnerships with KidsBonesCanada to amplify the patient voice are on the horizon.
The first annual educational event sponsored by CCCBH took place in 2016, targeting endocrinologists across Canada with an interest in pediatric bone disorders. In 2021, the pandemic spurred KidsBonesCanada to launch “The 2021 CCCBH and CARDS Virtual Series”, a roster of educational webinars for health professionals and for patients and families living with childhood-onset skeletal disorders.
